Lee Strutt, CGCS, MG

Lee Strutt, MG, CGCS, MS, PGdip is a Golf Course Manager who is highly experienced in the presentation, maintenance and construction of golf courses. During his 40 years in the industry, Strutt has gained a wide understanding, knowledge and experience to ensure that all the elements to maintain a golf development are delivered daily to a high standard. His aims have always been to achieve the very best playing surfaces by understanding and maximizing every opportunity through careful financial management and utilizing every resource. In recent years this has been demonstrated by being the only Golf Course Manager to achieve all four global industry designations. His skills, knowledge and abilities have been recognized through other industry institutions by speaking nationally and internationally on topics ranging from agronomy to management. He has also served for the three years as a mentor to the initiative set up by Ransomes Jacobsen for “Future Turf Managers”. Strutt is also a Senior Master Greenkeeper, who regularly inspects and assesses potential golf course managers on the rigorous Master Greenkeeper Certificate. Having worked at different golf courses, from downland, heathland, parkland courses and supported high level tournaments, Strutt has in depth experience in many key areas that he uses in his role as Director of Agronomy at Cabot Cape Breton, Canada. These key areas include: Golf course presentation and playability aligned with expectations to ensure that all members and guests receive the very best service from the course and estate; Brings experience in Woodland management to enhance the ecological landscape; The maintenance, economical use and installation of modern day irrigation systems; Performance specification, method statements, construction and grow in of fine turf for sports and landscape. His wife Samantha is Chief Operating Officer for the Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA). Strutt enjoys landscape photography, cooking and restoring his historic Land Rover series 3 (eventually).
