Alexander R Kowalewski, Ph.D.

Alec Kowalewski, Ph.D., is a turfgrass specialist and associate professor in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. He earned his bachelors in landscape design (honors) at Michigan State University. Both his masters and his Ph.D. in crop and soil sciences were earned at MSU. Kowalewski’s current appointment is 70% teaching and service and 30% extension and outreach. Before joining the faculty at OSU, he was an assistant professor at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and worked at the University of Georgia Coastal Plains Experiment Stations as a research scientist. Kowalewski’s overall extension and research goal is improving the environmental and economic sustainability of turfgrass management. He has been a GCSAA member since 2009, has served on the Research Proposal Review Committee and taught webinars for GCSAA.
