Austin Wright, CTEM
Austin Wright began his career on the turfgrass side of the industry attending Kansas State University and became an assistant superintendent in Lawrence, Kan. He decided to follow his passion and combine both the game of golf and mechanics to pursue the equipment management side of the golf industry. Wright worked as a service technician for the local Toro distributor in the Kansas City area, then took the equipment manager position at the Country Club of Leawood in Leawood, Kan. In 2016, Wright and his family moved to Rome, Wisc. where he started as the equipment manager building Sand Valley Golf Resort. After opening three courses at Sand Valley, Wright has now taken on more responsibility as the Grounds Complex and Equipment Manager. He has also been working with the Wisconsin GCSAA chapter building the Equipment Manager Program. In Nov. 2021, Wright completed GCSAA’s EMCP Level 2 certificate program, becoming the 64th person to complete both levels.
