Tyler G Bloom

Tyler Bloom's passion for the game of golf began at the age of 6. After playing high school golf, Bloom attended Penn State University to study Turfgrass Science. He interned at three top 50 golf courses - Merion Golf Club, Southern Hills Country Club for the 2007 PGA Championship, and Muirfield Village Golf Club for the 2008 Memorial Tournament. Upon graduation he was an Assistant at Oakmont Country Club for three years while preparing for the 2010 US Women's Open Championship before earning a Lead Assistant position at Sunnybrook Golf Club. At the age of 27, Bloom took over as Golf Course Superintendent at Sparrows Point Country Club, a 27-hole private facility in Baltimore, Md. It was here Bloom developed a reputation for staff development and training. During his time, Bloom instituted the first Youth Apprenticeship program for golf courses in the state of Maryland. In addition, he was recognized by the Governor for Employee Direct Support by the Department of Disabilities. In June 2020, Bloom launched an independent consulting firm focused on search, career and workforce development. He has acquired an Executive Certificate from Cornell University in Talent Acquisition and Recruitment, and is a Certified Partner with the Predictive Index, the world's leading talent optimization company. Bloom is a sought-after speaker regionally and internationally and a frequent writer for industry publications including Golf Course Industry and Golf Course Management. He serves on various workforce development committees including the GCSAA First Green, and has partnerships with the Philadelphia Association of Golf Course Superintendents and the New York State Turf Association. Bloom has been the recipient of numerous industry peer awards including: 2020 GCSAA Leo Feser Award 2019 "Best Blog" presented by Aquatrols and Golf Course Industry magazine 2020 John Kaminski Award recognized for Leadership in Social Media presented by Aquatrols and Golf Course Industry magazine
