Tripp Davis, ASGCA
Golf course architect Tripp Davis leads the zoysiagrass renovation of Oak Hills Country Club. Tripp studied landscape architecture at the University of Oklahoma, where his thesis researched "The Environmental Impact of Golf Course Construction." Davis puts his research into practice when designing courses by working with the land as much as possible. He prefers to move only as much dirt as is necessary for strategy and drainage. He considers himself to be more minimalist than most, but more of a naturalist.
A talented golfer—he was an NCAA All–American selection at Oklahoma University and a member of its 1989 national championship team, Davis is currently ranked as one of the top amateur golfers in the country. But even at the young age of 15, he did not have dreams of the PGA Tour; rather, he envisioned being a golf course architect.
Today, Davis is living his dream as the founder and lead golf architect of Tripp Davis and Associates. The company is a small but uniquely talented and experienced team of professionals who work on a limited number of projects at a time in order to provide an unwavering focus on each one. The firm designs golf courses using intense knowledge of the game, themed styles fitting the heritage of the land, and uncompromising attention to detail. The results are courses and golf experiences that exceed expectations and will stand the test of time.
